Militants storm PDP leader's residence, decamp with 4 service rifles | | | Saahil Suhail Early Times Report Anantnag, Sept 18: Militants Sunday evening stormed into the fortified residence of a PDP leader in Dailgam area of Anantnag district and decamped with four weapons. Highly placed sources told Early Times that at around 9:50pm, militants believed to be four in number stormed into the residence of PDP leader Advocate Javed Ahmad Sheikh at Dailgam. They, according to sources opened fire on policemen guarding the residence of Sheikh and decamped with at least four service weapons of the guards. Policemen retaliated. However the militants managed to flee from the spot along with the four weapons. Javed Ahmad Sheikh, wasn't at home when militants attacked his residence, is PDP's district President for Anantnag. Meanwhile, heavy contingent of police, CRPF and Army rushed towards the spot and cordoned off the area to nab the militants. This is the third incident of weapon snatching in South Kashmir during the ongoing unrest. Earlier militants managed to snatch service rifles of some cops guarding politicians in Kulgam district as well. Intelligence sleuths have already warned security forces especially local police of such attacks. Reports have clearly mentioned that militants are desperate to take advantage of ongoing unrest. |
