PDP-BJP govt. averse to supreme sacrifices of Army Jawans: Harsh | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 20: Eulogizing the supreme sacrifices made by the 'Jawans' of 'Dogra' and 'Bihar Regiments' who lost their lives in Pak sponsored terror attack in Uri, Harsh Dev Singh Chairman JKNPP has lambasted the BJP-PDP government for delay and deny in announcing the ex-gratia and compensation to the families of the said martyrs. Condemning the highly apathetic attitude of the state government and particularly that of BJP Ministers, Singh pointed out that excepting JK other states had announced an ex-gratia to next of the kins of slain martyrs. He further said that state government has been dis-regarding its martyrs even in the past with no ex-gratia having been paid to the Army Jawans who sacrificed their lives for honour of the nation and its flag. He condemning the BJP-PDP government for failure to recognize and honour the great sacrifices of valiant Jawans of Military and Para-military forces, Singh called for posthumous awards to such martyrs with immediate announcement of adequate ex-gratia to their families. "State government for its neglect in payment of ex-gratia to the family of Chamel Singh who was killed in Kot Lakhpat Jail of Pakistan", Harsh said, adding that Sarbjit Singh who was also killed in similar circumstances in the same Jail was given the status of a martyr by Punjab Govt. besides his family members having been given ex-gratia of Rs. 1.25 crore in addition to two jobs in the family. He deplored that the senior leaders of BJP who had even gone to shoulder the mortal remains of Chamel Singh when his body was brought from Lahore after a long gap of 57 days, had intriguingly adopted a muted silence over the issue after coming to power. |
