IMS organizes career counseling session | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 8: The Institute of Management Sciences (IMS) organized a career counseling session for their students. Prof. J. R. Dhotra, Director IMS welcomed the students and the Resource Person of the occasion was Reshmi Manna, an expert career counselor from IBS, Gurgaon. She talked about student knowledge sharing program wherein she said that career development is a lifelong process and our interests, values, skills and personality - all of which contribute to our career development - take time to develop and may change over time as a result of changes within us or our environment. She also briefed the students about the fact that Career Counseling is much more than giving suggestions about different courses and colleges. Infact giving information about colleges and courses is just the very last part of a good and robust career counseling process. She further elaborated by saying that the process of career counseling should entail a detailed understanding of the student's aptitudes, his / her personality and his / her interests and inclinations. She also talked about career planning in the sense that refers to plan our own career- one should be aware of his/her goal, and should make the way to reach the destination by following the path which one has to set up. Also emphasis was on to utilize the ones' strengths and whenever there is a doubt, one should need to get back to his strengths and match it with market reality. The students got a chance to interact with the counseling expert at the session. Such one-to-one sessions will address individual needs of students and provide guidance for various career opportunities that will help them achieve their dreams. |
