Geelani crossing the line, insulting Jammu, Ladakh | Memorandum to UN | | Early Times Report jammu, Oct 8: Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti's government did exceedingly well on Friday by not allowing the seditionists to reach the undesirable United Nations Military Observer's office in Srinagar. They wanted to create a scene and further vitiate the already rather vitiated atmosphere in the Valley, but their whole exercise was defeated by the determined government. It was a bold step taken by the government and it indicated that it meant business and that it will not allow such activities to take place. Stung by the government's resolute action, the separatists headed by Pakistani agent Syed Ali Shah Geelani used internet to achieve their objective and attract the attention of the international community. They emailed their nasty memorandum to the UNMOG. There was nothing new in the memorandum. It was just a reiteration of what Geelani had been saying in Kashmir and outside Kashmir. It was nothing but a blend of false accusations, half truths, exaggerations and reaffirmation of their commitment to Pakistan, which had left no stone unturned to create a volcanic situation in the Kashmir Valley. That the memorandum was a bled of lies can be seen from the fact that it said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir were facing wave of repression at the hands of Indian occupation forces. "With profound hope, we appeal to Your Excellency (read UN Secretary General), on behalf of the besieged people of Jammu Kashmir, who are facing an unprecedented wave of repression at the hands of Indian occupation forces particularly during the last three months," the memorandum, among other things, said. What it said was an affront to the self-respect of the patriotic people of Jammu whose commitment to the country and the security forces, particularly the Army, CRPF and the BSF, had been exemplary. The people of Jammu province have always held the security forces in the highest esteem and considered them as their saviour and saviour of the country. Jammu province is a region which has laid down thousands of lives during all these years for the cause of the country and very happily and cheerfully - a fact the Army and the state government repeatedly acknowledged. Only a few days ago, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti had congratulated the people of Jammu province, saying that they maintained peace despite grave provocations. It appears Geelani and Co believes that the international community is not aware of the ground situation in the state. It is not the case. The world knows that while Jammu and Ladakh remained peace during all these three months of turmoil in Kashmir, Geelani and ilk at the behest of Pakistan disturbed Kashmir for ulterior purposes. He would do well to understand this and not say things which the people of Jammu and Ladakh hate and abhor. |
