Mysterious epidemic breaks out Mandi Village, claims 4 lives | | | MS Nazki Early Times Report
Poonch, Oct 8: There have been reports of breaking out of a mysterious epidemic in a far off village of Mandi in this border district which has claimed 4 lives till now while as more than 70 people are under treatment in hospital sources said here today. Sources said over 70 people of village Bandi Kama Khan have been admitted in hospitals for treatment of a mysterious epidemic which has been break out in the village and has claimed 4 precious lives, they added. Locals said that there is a tap near a sping in the village where from all the villages fetch water for drinking purposes but soon after the water is consumed intestines infection is developed and pain in abdomen increases. The reason behind this mysterious ailment which later on attacks on skin and bones, has not been ascertained as yet, they added. Sources said that chief Medical officer Poonch, Block Medical officer Mandi and incharges of PHCs too pend the visit to village and hospital but they declared it as a normal infections as they found nothing serious in it, sources added. "We are very afraid of this disease," said a local of the village, "we have never seen such an epidemic in his village," the villages added. "Please send some expert team of doctors from Jammu here to find out the facts." Said another village while talking to early Times. Since the directorate of Health Services Jammu has not taken the cognizance of the matter nor the district administration seems to be concerned about the matter, Mendhar Youth club chairman advocate nadeem Khan told Early Times that a team of expert doctors from New Delhi should be asked to visit this village and find out the causes of this mysterious disease which has created a fear psychosis among the villagers, Khan added. |
