Apollo Hospitals get AAHRPP accreditation | | | Early Times Report
New Delhi, Oct 11: The Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs, Inc. (AAHRPP) has awarded Apollo Hospitals a full accreditation for three years thus providing Apollo Hospitals the global Gold Seal awarded to institutions which maintain the highest international standards in research. AAHRPP is an independent, non-profit organization founded in 2001 to ensure research compliance and promote uniform standards for the protection of human subjects. AAHRPP-accredited organizations have more efficient operations, provide more comprehensive protections, and produce high-quality data. This is the first time in the world that 5 hospital locations comprising of 13 hospitals from the same institution have been awarded full accreditation simultaneously. This follows an intensive site visit in June 2016 during which the locations were inspected. This accreditation has been awarded based on a strong commitment demonstrated to protect research participants and promoting high quality research. AAHRPP has accredited less than 2% of hospitals worldwide. To date, only 35 institutions have earned AAHRPP accreditation outside the United States, making it a coveted distinction. Over 60% of research intensive institutions/medical schools in the U.S along with NIH are AAHRPP accredited. To earn AAHRPP accreditation, organizations must provide tangible evidence through policies, procedures, and practices of their commitment to scientifically and ethically sound research and to continuous improvement. Long regarded as the gold standard, AAHRPP accreditation is becoming the norm for quality research programs. Dr. K Hari Prasad, President Hospitals Division, Apollo Hospital Group said "The AAHRPP accreditation allows us to meet the expectations of international peers thus instilling trust among research partners.
