Govt employees participating in ongoing unrest face termination | | | Muhammad Mukaram
Early Times Report
Srinagar, Oct 11: Tightening its noose against people involved in protests in Kashmir, the government of Jammu and Kashmir has issued the instructions to all state departments to submit NOCs with respect to all the government employees to certify their non involvement in anti -government protests. According to the sources, government has decided to terminate at least 80 employees from the services for their alleged involvement in the ongoing protests in the Valley. "The government has now decided to act against those employees after sending several warnings to them "not to be part of anti-government protests" in Kashmir and refrain in "fueling the current unrest" in the Valley," official sources added. Government has received reports from CID about the employees who had participated in protests in the Valley during the last three months, sources said. Official sources said at the initial stage the government has decided to terminate employees accused of being a part of "anti-India" protests and "fueling" the ongoing unrest in the Valley. It has been learnt that the dossier against these employees has been prepared and is lying in chief secretary's office. "Recently, A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary B R Sharma where it was decided to terminate employees who have been participating in anti-India protests," an official privy to the meeting said. "But the Cabinet will take the final call," he added. Earlier, police had framed a list of over 200 employees who have been allegedly part of unrest in the Valley and many were arrested. "But this time government has gone ahead by not only arresting some employees but terminate them from services on the charges of being involved in anti-national activities," another senior official said. Government had earlier arrested several employees' leaders when they were staging demonstrations, demanding ban on use of pellet guns in the Valley and were lodged in various jails for weeks before being released on bail earlier this month. Since the unrest started in valley, government has been pressurizing employees to attend their duties forthwith or else their salaries won't be released. Despite that, majority of employees have stayed away from their duties in view of the prevailing situation and offices witness minimal attendance of employees. Some of the employees have been going to duties on alternate days but have adopted a different strategy of not getting noticed by the people by wearing casual dresses. |
