7 civilians, CRPF jawan injured in Shopian grenade attack | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Oct 11: Seven civilians and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan sustained injuries in a grenade attack in south Kashmir's Shopian area on Tuesday. The grenade was lobbed towards a CRPF patrol at Bona Bazaar, 50 km from here, which exploded on the road. "The splinters hit seven pedestrians and a CRPF jawan," police sources said. The injured were shifted to hospital and their condition is said to be stable. Soon after the incident, the police and CRPF cordoned off the area and carried out searches to look for the militants. South Kashmir's Shopian district has seen a series of attacks in the past week. On October 4, militants had attacked the residence of a ruling Peoples Democratic Party lawmaker, Mohammad Yousuf Bhat, with a hand grenade. Bhat and his family were not present in the house. On October 7, a police constable was killed and another was injured when militants made an abortive bid in Shopian district to snatch rifles from the policemen guarding a picket. |
