| Fire engulf huge 'forest speared' in Bhalla forest | | |  Early Times Report
Bhaderwah, Oct 15: Massive forest fire broke out in Bhalla Compartment of Kellar Range of forest area of Bhaderwah Forest Division and reportedly has destroyed a huge area of green forest. Meanwhile forest employees and locals are on job to douse the raging fire to spread in other areas. According local reports, a team of forest officials constituted by forest department rushed immediately to the spot and initiated serious efforts to douse the flames so as to stop it from spreading towards other compartments and nearby villages.
DFO Bhaderwah T B Singh said the flames were brought under control after hectic fire fighting by the forest department teams impressed in the job.
"General area of forests often witness fires every year after humans put fires to burn dry grass in search of green pastures for their livestock," he added.
He however added that fire only destroyed dry undergrowth but no loss to trees has been reported so far from the areas as the fire was controlled timely by the forest staff.
DFO Bhaderwah Mr Singh said that forest teams have put their all out efforts to contain the fire and have so far succeeded in dousing flames from spreading to the adjoining areas. |
