| Funds misappropriated under RMSA SSA | | | Early Times Report
Doda, Oct 20: There has been misappropriation of funds meant for the welfare of schools under centrally sponsored schemes like RMSA and SSA in Doda district for the last many years.
Funds worth crores of rupees are being provided to the state government by the ministry of human resource development government of India to keep these flagship schemes going on and the same are not being utilized properly by the concerned authorities.
As per the statistical data at present there are one thousand two hundred and seventy-five government schools in district Doda. Out of these there are thirty-nine higher secondary and one hundred five high schools.
Every year funds amounting Rs 50000 are sanctioned in favour of the higher secondary and high schools respectively the maintenance of laboratories, libraries and other basic infrastructural facilities.
In addition an amount of Rs 5000 and 12000 is provided to each primary and upper primary school respectively. Unfortunately all these funds meant for the improvement of schools are being misused and there is no visible change in any school in the district. The agencies responsible for the monitoring of such schemes are mute spectators and the huge amounts go waste while the schools suffer due to the deficiency of basic requirements such as science equipments and books etc. Those who are assigned the duty to audit the expenditure also maintain criminal silence in this regard. |
