Jamaat backed employees, Geelani's son in 'safe zone' | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 20: State government taking action against a few government employees, who were involved in the anti-national activities and protests, has created ripples among the employees with the separatist leanings. Sources told Early Times that termination of nearly thirteen government employees is just a beginning and axe is likely to fall on more employees, who were part of the halla-gulla and were brain behind the protest calendars being issued by the Hurriyat hawk Syed Ali Shah Geelani. Insiders said that these employees were instrumental in prolonging the Kashmir unrest and a few of them were acting as advisors to Geelani. "There are more in the list. Police had also questioned Geelani's son, who is also a government employee, in connection with the ongoing unrest. Despite sleuths of the CID wing sending a detailed report about Geelani's son being at the forefront no action has been taken against him," sources added. They said, "Many employees having affiliation with Jamaat-e-Islami too have played a vital role in the ongoing unrest. These employees have not been touched due to them enjoying the political patronage." Sources said that in south Kashmir, considered to be the bastion of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), no government employee with Jamaat background has been touched. "It's believed that Jamaat had offered coveted support to PDP in the 2014 parliamentary and assembly elections," sources claimed. They said the government's action has prompted the people who had voted for the ruling party to get in touch with their political bosses to save their skin. "To begin with only low rung employees have been shown the door. The influential employees are still calling the shots, and are acting as the advisors of the separatists who have taken entire Kashmir as hostage for the past more than 3-months," sources added. Insiders said that a few politicians are advising the authorities to "go slow" with the termination process as it can prove disastrous for them in the future. "These politicians seem least bothered about these employees being a part of a bigger conspiracy being hatched against India. They are trying to do so to ensure that their vote banks remain intact," sources claimed. These politicians, sources said, have suggested that no further action should be taken as sacking the low rung employees has already conveyed a message. "All the boats can't be burnt. At the end we have to seek the support of the same people who are opposing us today," sources quoted politicians as having conveyed to their leaders. Insiders revealed that for the past few days the offices in Kashmir have been abuzz with the activity as the employees had realized that government is mulling action against them. Its in place to mention here that Hurriyat hawk Syed Ali Shah Geelani had issued a statement on Wednesday stating that government employees who are defying the protest calendar and are attending the offices are "traitors." |
