Black Thursday: 25 killed in two fatal accidents in Reasi, Rajouri | Mother along with two minor children killed in Rajouri | | Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 20: In two different road tragedies at least 25 passengers were killed and over 40 were injured in Reasi and Rajouri districts of Jammu province on Thursday. According to reports, at least 22 passengers were killed in Reasi while a mother along with her two children was killed near Bindi village of Rajouri. In both the accidents the passenger buses were skidded off the roads and fell in deep gorges resulting fatal injuries to the occupants of the vehicles. The ill fated bus bearing registration number JK02S 0295 was on its way from Reasi to Bakal when it met with an accident near SBI branch and Gurdwara complex in Jyotipuram area. According to BJP minister Ajay Nanda- the local MLA, "atleast 22 passengers were killed in the Reasi accident." "14 passengers were killed on the spot while others succumbed to their injuries in the District Hospital (DH) Reasi," MLA added. More than 30 injured in the accident were shifted to Jammu in different ambulances. According to preliminary reports police sources said, the driver faced difficulty in controlling the bus after its gear box detected some problem while moving towards Bakal. "The bus suddenly moved backwards and fell in a deep gorge resulting fatal injuries to passengers huddled in an over-crowded bus." Yet in another road tragedy, a mother along with two children ware killed in Rajouri, while 15 others were injured when a minibus rolled down into a deep gorge in Bindi village Rajori. Governor NN Vohra, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, Deputy Chief Minister Prof Nirmal Singh and other senior ministers have expressed deep shock and grief over the fatal road accidents in Reasi and Rajouri districts. |
