Col Chopra given recognition after 70 years | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 20: After 70 years the founding father of Jammu Drug Laboratory, which was later named as Regional Research Laboratory and then rechristened as Indian Institute of Integrated Medicines (IIIM) a prestigious institute of the country Dr Sir Ram Nath Chopra got a recognition today when his statue was unveiled in the Institute today none other than Union Minister of Science and Technology Dr Harshwardan in presence of another Union Minister, DG CSIR and Director IIIM, Ram Vishwakarma today. Speaking on the occasion Dr Harshwardan said unveiling of the statue of Dr Chopra who was a thinker ahead of his time. He said the IIM is a prestigious institute of the country and leading all the other 34 institutes of the country. He said all steps will be taken to boost the research work in this institute so that it will touch the heights and dream of Prime Minister can be realized. It may be recalled that for last 70 years this son of the soil who was a world renowned figure in research field. The Government over these years has never bothered to give a due place to Dr Chopra as he deserves. But the present Union Government took an initiative and installed a statue on his name in the institute. This has been described a greatest tribute to this great researcher of medicine. Some scholars have even demanded that theChowk in front of IIIM and road leading to Bakshi Nagar via IIIM be named after Sir Chopra. In addition to it a Colony be also named after Col Chopra in Jammu. |
