| Garbage heaps greet pilgrims at Sulla Park | | |  AB Sharma

Reasi, Mar 12: Heaps of garbage greet pilgrims, who visit the Sulla Park here, between the revered shrines of Mata Vaishno Devi and Shiv Khori putting the devotees to huge inconvenience.
Some 25 kilometers from Katra town, on way to Shiv Khori this picturesque park is located near a Shiv Temple. The park is a preferred stopover for the pilgrims travelling between the two shrines, but a halt at this spot gives a nauseating experience to the visitors. "It's so filthy around that I feel like puking," said a pilgrim. What adds to the public woes is that garbage heaps are never removed but burnt on the spot resulting in air pollution in the area. The park, developed by Forest department has been neglected by the concerned. When contacted a senior official said the park is cleaned properly only when some VIP is expected to visit the area.
Meanwhile the devotees have appealed Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and Deputy CM Dr Nirmal Singh to personally look into the matter. |
