Early Times Report

Kishtwar, Mar 12: Amid reports of differences between the senior police officials probing the murder of an influential hotelier Ishtaq Ahmed Dar, Kishtwar police is clueless even after 72 hours since Dar was killed by some unidentified gunmen on Friday evening .
The sources inform the "Early Times" that serious difference has emerged among the senior police officers probing the case and taking full advantage of the situation, a selection grade constable is calling shots by misleading the top police officials in the ongoing investigation.
Sources said that the influential and controversial cop under the garb of the investigation is settling the personal scores. The undue interference of this controversial cop has created a serious difference between the top official and the members of the Special Investigation Team probing the case.
The sources said that acting on the suggestions of the controversial cop, the senior police official allegedly subjected some of the suspect detained by the police for questioning to 3rd degree torture.
The sources said that even some women detained for questioning were harassed and subjected to humiliation and torture during the custody. They added that the investigation into the case was carried out in the part of the Police Station Kishtwar where no CCTV was installed.
The sources said that SIT was not allowed to probe the case freely due to direct influence of the top official. They also disclosed that Kishtwar police was suspecting the hand of drug mafia or drug addict behind the murder and had even detained a 22 year youth for questioning. Besides, police has also scrutinized the CCTV footage of a shop which covers the part of a road leading to the crime scene, however it fails to find any clue from the said footage.
The sources once again stated that the recovery of the weapon is key in case police wants to strengthen the case before the court of law.
Meanwhile SP Kishtwar late last night removed this correspondent from the social media WhatsApp group "Police-Media Group Kishtwar" for not toeing the line of Kishtwar police.
