Nowshera protests: Counter FIRs file following scuffle between two groups
3/12/2018 10:54:09 PM
Early Times Report
Rajouri, Mar 12: Five people were injured today in a physical scuffle during protest demonstration over a minor issue.
The injured, who were referred to government Medical college hospital (GMCH) after preliminary treatment at Nowshera, have been identified as Chottu Ram Choudhry, Narinder Kumar, Bahadur Singh, Sukhdev Singh all from BJP and Om Parkash retired Master (PDP).
Agitation for district status has been initiated by the people of Nowshera sub division under the banner of Beopar Mandal headed by Subhash kapoor and carried out by Joint Action Committee (JAC) headed by him.
Subhash Kapoor, said that today's incident will not have any effect on their ongoing struggle as it was an issue of misunderstanding. He denied the news of any division between political parties over the issue of district status or an attempt by Ravinder Raina, MLA, BJP to sabotage the struggle for his personnel benefits as appeared in social media networks.
"It was an attempt by the state government to divide the people on party basis to sabotage our ongoing indefinite strike for district status as the people from every section of society and political leaders despite their association with different political parties have come on one stage" said Subhash Kapoor.
"On March 9, Chief Minister had assured us to re-discuss the issue of rotational ADC with the BJP Ministers and concerned legislators and to meet us again after few days" said Subhash Kapoor.
He added JAC has decided to continue the ongoing struggle peacefully till the CM invites us again or we get positive response from the government.
He further said the government had requested us to allow government offices to work as the financial year was coming to end.
"We won't allow any government office to function as our people have also closed their establishments and were suffering daily loss of more than Rs crores" said Kapoor.
"Police have taken cognizance of the incident of physical scuffle and on the complaints from both the sides, police have lodged counter FIRs under section 147 and 323 RPC" said ASP, Nowshera.
