| Theatre Olympics: Day 8, American play 'The Last One' staged | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Mar 29: A play from a theatre group from the United States was the attraction on the Day-8 of the Jammu leg of the ongoing Theatre Olympics, here today.
The English play titled 'The Last One' directed by Gema Galiana, written by Anthony Nikolchev and presented by the group - Galiana & Nikolchev's The Useless Room, USA was staged here at Abhinav Theatre today.
The Last One is a movement-based, physical theatre performance. Poaching beauty in a battle between preservation and destruction, The Last One investigates the physical toll of a progressively graying existence. The work explores the limits of physical resistance, obsessions, fears and fragility, while seeking an empathetic relationship between performer and spectator. The Last One is an intense exploration into the struggles between building up and tearing down of society.
According to the director of the play, "The play tries to explore the ideas of destruction, beauty and the truth in it. Exploring power dynamics, toxic masculinity and how lonely we are; not knowing how to love or be loved."
Gema Galiana is a director and performer originally from Spain, and is currently based in Los Angeles.
Eminent theatre actor and director M.K. Raina will be part of the Master Class Series to be held at KL Saigal Hall at 2 PM tomorrow. |
