Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 29: It appears that Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu's loyalty for PDP has worked, as notification for appointment of a new VC apparently has been kept on hold. The term of incumbent VC expired on March 12, and it was assumed that Raj Bhawan, without wasting any time, would announce search committee following which a notification would be issued. "Even after clear verdict from High Court against extension sought by Kashmir University's incumbent VC, the JU as well as the Raj Bhawan are buying time", sources said. "As per the procedure, a search committee was to be announced in last meeting University Council. since the term of incumbent VC expired prior to the meeting, the Governor, Chancellor of the University, had sought consent of Council's members, and it has been consented that the search committee would be same for the selections of new VCs for both KU and JU," sources said. The notification was to be issued by the Registrar, JU. "But the Registrar is reluctant to issue the order", said a senior professor. He said the acting Registrar was appointed by the VC, Prof R D Sharma. "Now he is being obliging the VC." It is pertinent to mention here that the Prof R D Sharma, to appease ruling PDP during his term, had brazenly violated rules. Whether it is the matter of allotment of Zorawar Singh Auditorium for PDP's function, Prof Sharma left to stone unturned to appease his political masters, said sources. |
