Grameen Bank conducts programme under Gram Swaraj Abhiyaan

JAMMU, Apr 24: J&K GRAMEEN Bank conducted GOI campaign "GRAM SWARAJ ABHIYAAN" at village Mirpur Jagoo (unbanked area) under the Branch Office-Nagri Parole Tehsil-Nagri & District-Kathua
Micro Finance and Financial Inclusion Department under the chairmanship of R K Chibber conducted Government of India campaign "GRAM SWARAJ ABHIYAAN" in the unbanked village Mirpur Jagoo under the Branch Office-Nagri Parole, Tehsil-Nagri & District-Kathua.
Madan Lal, DDM NABARD who was the chief guest on the occasion made the people aware that the Gram Swaraj Abhiyaan is an initiative of GOI for reaching out to the poor population in the villages of Districts Jammu, Rajouri, Kathua & Samba. He appreciated the efforts of the bank towards social security schemes and applauded that the bank is making extraordinary efforts to make the national programme of social security schemes a big success by enrolling more than 2000 individuals in just 10 days under this campaign.
LDM SBI, S K Kandroo who was the guest of honour on the occasion made the people aware about the gathering about these schemes and requested them to enroll under these social security schemes. The focus of the programme was on the maximum enrolment of Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY).
Regional Manager J&K Grameen Bank, Kathua & Samba, Kasturi Lal Sharma, advised all the branches falling in his region for enrolling more and more persons under these schemes so that the poor and unreachable population may also get the benefits of these schemes. He also advised the bank staff for door to door banking under this campaign so that everyone should get benefit.
The programme mainly focuses on to enroll more and more individuals under these social security schemes viz., PMJDY, PMJJBY and PMSBY. Vipan Gupta, Senior Manager, Micro Finance & Financial Inclusion, J&K Grameen Bank was also present at that occasion.
Speaking at the campaign, he said that state and centrally sponsored schemes and programmes are being run in the village for the benefit of general public. He directed the concerned that the village should achieve 100 percent target in terms of opening accounts under PMJDY, enrolment under PMJJBY and PMSBY.
Gupta said that the campaign will continue till May 5, 2018, and is aimed to promote social harmony, reach out to poor rural households, spreading awareness about government welfare schemes, enhance livelihood opportunities and re-emphasize national priorities including cleanliness and strengthening of Panchayati Raj institutions. The focus was also on APY enrolments, at present bank is touching 8000 APY enrolments.
