Jammu, May 1: A national exhibition of paintings dedicated to Late Suraj Saraf, a veteran journalist of state, was organized by Jammu and Kashmir Centre for Creative Arts (JKCCA), Jammu at Kala Kendra. Dr. Nirmal Vinod, a well known writer and radio presenter was the Chief Guest and Kewal K Sharma was the guest of Honour on this occasion. The works of senior and young artists of the state and 11 other states of the country were displayed in the exhibition. The art work of these artists was associated with different styles and themes in various mediums and techniques. Prominent artist who participated in this exhibition include V S Rahi and Dr. A K Dixit (New Delhi) N D Jamwal, T S Batra, Jang S Verman, Shafi Chaman, Aslam Naqishbandi, Kamalnain BHan, M Akram Khan, Manoj Chopra, Reecha Gupta, Ashok Mehra and O P Sharma (J&K), Prabhinder Lall and Harpuneet Kaur (Chandigarh), Dr. Nisha Soni (Rajsthan), Anuradha Thakur, Ramesh Bhosale, and Raghu Nawere (Maharashtra), K S Gill, Dharminder Sharma, Mala Chawla, Gaytri and Dharminder Sharma (Punjab), Mamta Patel (Gujrat), Dr. Mamta Singh (Uttra Khand), Pratima Singh (UP), Ananny Roy Choudhary and Ashok Ganguly (West Bengal) etc. Young artists of J&K state whose work has been included in the show are Amrit Kaur, Anila Singh Charak, Payal Chadha Gupta, Naresh Gupta, Kareen Mahajan, Nidhi Jain, Shahida Malik, Sabeena Gul, Antima Manhas and KuanainZubair. Dh. O P Sharma, Director JKCCA welcomed the guests on this occasion. Dr. Nirmal Vinod said that by remembering Suraj Saraf by JKCCA is a major gesture towards acknowledging his services in writing on and documenting art, culture, heritage and the artists. |
