Early Times Report JAMMU, May 1: Keeping aside the process to fill post of Directorate of Distance Education (DDE), University of Jammu, the incumbent, Vice Chancellor promoted adhocism to run the directorate, an equivalent institution to JU. The process for direct recruitment was initiated two years ago, but it could not reach its conclusion. "The screening process to find eligible candidates took a year and two candidates were shortlisted for the post", sources said, adding that for past one year, the process has been kept in abeyance by successive administration. The University Council in 2012 had asked the administration to make direct recruitment to fill the post of Director, DDE. "After lapse of six years, the Council found caretaker", sources said. They said that in an attempt to manipulate Council's decision regarding appointment, Director DDE, the incumbent VC placed the matter before Academic Council, seeking consensus of members to fill the post through internal arrangements. "Later on, the after go-ahead from the AC, the VC placed the matter before Syndicate, but the Financial Advisor disapproved VC's suggestions", they added. Presently, Dr Darshana Sharma, is holding the post of Director, DDE, that fell vacant after death of the then Director, DDE Prof D S Bhau. "From Prof Minakshi Kilam, Prof Desh Bandu, Prof V D Singh, Prof D S Bhau and Prof Darshana Sharma, the Professors made in-charge Director, not a single permanent Director has been appointed in DDE", sources said. "It was the reason that the Chancellor of University, Governor, N N Vohra had directed the officials in University Council's meet to appointment a permanent Director. In the absence of permanent caretaker, the director goes directionless", sources said. |
