BARAMULLA, May 1: Hundreds of people on Tuesday participated in the funeral prayers of the slain Baramulla youth killed by unknown gunmen on Monday evening in this north Kashmir district. Meanwhile, CM condemns the killing of three youth in Baramulla.
Despite shutdown, people in large numbers had turned up for the funeral of the three youth identified as Asif Ahmed Shiekh, Haseeb Ahmad Khan and Mohammad Asgar who were killed by unknown gunmen late last night at Iqbal Market of Khanpora area of Baramulla. The funeral was held today morning at their native place at the old town area of Baramulla.
Eyewitness said that mourners gathered at Astan-e-Aaliya in Mir Sahib of old town and participated in the funeral prayers of the slain trio.
Meanwhile, a complete shutdown was observed in Baramulla to mourn the killings of three youths by unidentified gunmen.
However, police on late Monday evening issued a press release in which they claimed that one Pakistani militant and two local militants are involved in the killings. Police said preliminary investigation has revealed complicity of Lashkar-e-Toiba in the case. Forces on Tuesday launched a cordon-and-search-operation in north Kashmir's Old town Baramulla, the police official told Early Times. An official said that a joint team of army and Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police launched the operation in the area to nab the assailants who killed three civilians in Khanpora area last night. He said that searches were carried out in some parts of the town to nab the assailants. The Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti has condemned the killing of three youth at Baramulla yesterday evening by unknown assailants. The Chief Minister said she is pained to see young boys getting killed in an unending cycle of violence which she reiterated ought to be put to an end.
Mehbooba Mufti has extended sympathies to bereaved families of the slain youth.
