Labour class is back bone of development, economic progress of country: Mir | | | Early Times Report Jammu, May 1: Ghulam Ahmed Mir (Former Minister) and JKPCC Chief has described labour class as back bone of the development and economic progress of the country and said that Congress is committed for the welfare and to protect the rights of labour class people of the country. Addressing an impressive function in connection with May Day here at PCC Headquarters Shaheedi Chowk, Jammu today, PCC Chief said that Congress party has its existence in more than six lack villages of the country and represents all sections of the society and is always committed to protect the rights of the working class who are the back bone of the India's economic progress and overall development of the country. Mir said Congress party has always advocated the welfare of labour class in the economic and socio progress of the country. He said that UPA Govt. had brought land mark legislation to the benefit and protect the rights of labour class in the organized and unorganized sector. He reminded that all beneficiary labour laws were applied in J&K during the Congress regime and extended full cooperation to their struggle for acceptance of genuine demands. He asked partymen to take care of labour class and ensured their support to the employees in government, semi government and private sector in order to accelerate of economic development and equal participation of labour class in the economic activities. Sr. Vice-President JKPCC & Former Minister Sham Lal Sharma asked the working class to remain united and cautioned them against the vested interests who are out to divide the working class for their political interests. He assured them that he will leave no stone unturned for the welfare of the labour class of various categories, for redressal of their genuine demands. He also assured them that they will always be with them and extend their full cooperation for the redressal of their genuine demands. The function was organised by the J&K INTUC led by its President Shiv Kumar Sharma. A large number of labour leaders of the organization affiliated to the Indian National Trade Union Congress were present on the occasion and participated in the deliberations. Sharma highlighted the problems of hardworking class.
