Youth stabbed to death, 2 arrested

A paramedical student was stabbed to death when a group of youth of same college attacked the former with sharp-edged weapons at Billawar in Kathua, on Wednesday morning.

The victim identified as Liyakat Ali son of Munair Hussain who was shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H) Jammu where he failed to respond the treatment after some time.

Following the incident police after reaching the spot has arrested two accused involved in the crime from Sukrala within hours of the incident while seized their car as well.

The accused duo has been identified as Abhisheikh Sharma and Honey Khajuria who are studying in the same college of the deceased.

Police sources said that a complaint was lodged by one Nishant Kouser wife of Imran Hussein at Police Station Billawar at around 12 PM that her brother Liyaqat Ali son of Munir Hussein of Ther (Billawar) has been stabbed with sharp-edged weapon at village Dher by two persons namely Abhishek Sharma of Nowshera Mahanpur and Honey Khajuria of Dher Billawar and fled away from the spot. Instantly, a case under FIR No 49/18 under section 307 of RPC was registered which was later converted into under section 302 of RPC after death of the student and investigation started. SSP Kathua, Shridhar Patil immediately constituted special teams and Inspector Amit Sangra, SHO Police Station Billawar immediately raid at different locations to nab the culprits.

Police said that as per preliminary information, the accused duo wrongly mistook Liyakat as some other guy they had actually come for and stabbed him to death.

Meanwhile police further said that as per allegations they have also detained the third youth and investigation is on to ascertain his role in the crime.
