Early Times Report

Jammu, May 21: To commemorate the 27th anniversary of the martyrdom of Former Prime Minister, Rajiv Gandhi, the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress committee organized a "Shradhanjli Samaroh" at PCC HQ Shahidi Chowk Jammu today.
Besides this several other functions were also held across the State at different district and constituency levels. A Blood Donation Camp was also organized by Pradesh Youth Congress on the occasion to mark the day as "Balidan Divas". Around 50 youth Congressmen donated blood in the camp, at Congress HQ Jammu.
PCC Chief G.A. Mir presided over the function which was attended by senior leaders of PCC, DCC, Youth Congress, Mahila Congress, Seva Dal etc.
He lashed at the political vendetta of the BJP and Modi Govt. against the Congress party and its leadership by misleading the people by twisting facts and history but asserted that Congress party is still strong enough to counter the propaganda and would stage a comeback in future.
Sham Sharma while paying rich tributes to the great leader described him a great statesman. He said that the two years of MODI Govt. has failed to fulfill a single slogan and promise and it is exposed on its false hood. He also took a dig at the state coalition Govt. as the two coalition partners are pulling in different direction and failed to deliver on any front but still sticking to power. He said Rajiv Gandhi brought about IT revolution, strengthening PRI and empowerment of Youth and Women in the democracy.
Former MP and Senior Congress Leader Madan Lal Sharma paid floral tributes to Rajiv Gandhi and praised his leadership qualities.
He described him a visionary leader who brought about revolution in various fields especially in Panchayat Raj, Youth and women empowerment in the country. He worked for strengthening of the secular forces and defeat the divisive forces in the country.
