5/21/2018 11:27:42 PM
Early Times Report

Srinagar, May 21: As land acquisition for Semi Ring Road is being undertaken by respective collectors of several districts in Kashmir valley, compensation has been enhanced 4 times in Mir Gund village of Pattan constituency on the direction of local MLA Moulvi Imran who happens to be the senior Minister in the cabinet. Irony is that the neighbouring village of Mir Gund namely Check Razaq Khan and Ranbir Grah has no Godfather so the affected farmers are forced to sell land to Government at a meager rate of Rs 23 lakhs plus 15 %.
Reliable sources have told Early Times that valuation of land in Mir Gund village of Pattan has been enhanced 3 to 4 times. The land which is mostly marshy has huge market rate now ie Rs 38 lakhs / kanal and orchard land Rs 53 lakhs / kanal but on the other hand rate per kanal of land has been fixed @ Rs 23 lakhs plus 15 solatium in neighbouring village C

eck Razak Khan and Ranbir Grah which has mostly fertile land.
The farmers are aghast over this step motherly treatment of Government. "Our land is more fertile. We are not against enhancement of land rate in Mir Gund , but why not a similar treatment with us ? We have no representative in our area who could plead our cause , now Judiciary is our only hope " said Fayaz Ahmad Khan a resident whose 28 kanals of apple orchard land is going to be acquired by NHAI , but he is paid a very meager compensation while as the marshy land in Mir Gund has been acquired at better market rate than Fayaz's orchard land.
As reported already the affected farmers affected had sat in for a one day dharna at Srinagar's press enclave on Thursday, ahead of inauguration of semi ring road by PM Modi.
In Check Razak Khan apple growers allege that assessment for apple trees was also not done as per the existing market rates.
