Who is behind 'hasslefree' Bovine Smuggling in Kathua ?
6/4/2018 11:34:34 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, June 4: It appears that Kathua police has developed very congenial relations with bovine smugglers as there is huge money involved in the trade and the police of Kathua district is reportedly facilitating the smugglers in crossing the district safely.
According to the sources, within last five months, police in district Samba have foiled several bids of bovine smuggling at Tapyal area falling under the Jurisdiction of Ghagwal Police station and hundreds of bovines were also released from the clutches of the smugglers.
If sources are to be believed, after crossing Londi Morh naka of Hiranagar police station which is the last naka of Kathua police and from where jurisdiction of samba district starts and first naka of Ghagwal police is at Tapyal while these two nakas of two different district are just on walking distance Ghagwal police of Samba district has arrested many smugglers, rescued bovines in last five months.
Sources further said that from January 1st of 2018 to 31st of May of 2018, Samba police have registered 77 FIRs while 70 vehicles have been seized, 92 smugglers have been arrested, 705 animals have been rescued and one smuggler was detained under Public Safety Act (PSA).
While from Lakhanpur to Ghagwal four police stations and two police posts have been established, surprisingly Samba police foiled the bovine smuggling bids of the smugglers entering in the samba district through Kathua police with four police stations and two police post on National Highway failed to get hold the bovine smugglers. The act of the Kathua police has raised fingers on the working of the police of the district as this trade is believed to be spinning huge money. It is surprising how the bovine smugglers cross all Nakkas of district Kathua very easily.
According to the reliable sources, on 10th May, an incident happened in the Jurisdiction of Lakhanpur Police station when Mahindra vehicle carrying bovines in the morning hours was noticed by locals who caught the vehicle from the Jurisdiction of Lakhanpur Police station and rescued the bovines. After receipt of the information the concerned SHO sent his PSO to the spot, but the SHO did not consider it important to visit the spot as he allegedly shields the bovine sBmugglers.
Before this incident, the excise department also foiled two bovine smuggling bids and rescued dozens of bovines. If sources are to be believed, the SHO in question was transferred from Jammu district allegedly on complaint basis of facilitating bovine smugglers.
