Death due to alleged medical negligence, Departmental Committee begins probe | | | Asif Iqbal Naik

Kishtwar, June 4: Nearly two weeks since the death of a 48 year old woman Shakeela Begum wife of Mohammad Iqbal Butt, resident of Sangrabata due to alleged medical negligence, three member departmental Committee headed by Dr. Chander Prakash, Dy. Director HQ, Health Services Jammu has begun the probe by recording the statement of the hospital staff who treated the deceased woman. Speaking to Early Times, Dr. Chander Prakash said that the inquiry Committee is going through every aspect of the case and added that anyone found guilty will not be spared. However he did not mention the time frame with regards to the submitting of the inquiry report. The departmental inquiry is in addition to the Magistrate inquiry to be conducted by ADC Kishtwar. It is pertinent to mention that in a case of alleged medical negligence, doctors in Kishtwar district hospital allegedly left a medical sponge inside a 48-year-old woman's body which led to her death. The woman died from septicemia, a life-threatening complication caused due to negligence of the Surgeon who operated on the victim few months. The incident triggered strong protests with people demanding action against the doctors. Kishtwar police registered an FIR against five protestors , all were later released on bail . |
