JAMMU, June 4: Deputy Chief Minister, Kavinder Gupta today called for collective efforts to preserve the rich Dogra culture and heritage of Jammu, for which, he said, the social and Non-Governmental organizations should play their role. "Culture and language are our identity and it is the duty of every one to preserve and promote them", the Dy CM affirmed. Addressing the large gathering after inaugurating the musical evening "Gataar Duggar De" organized by Meri Pehchan -a women club at Abhinav Theatre here today, the Dy CM who was the Chief Guest on the occasion asked the younger generation to connect themselves with their culture and tradition. Kavinder Gupta said that our state has always been on the forefront when it comes to music, culture and art. However, there is a need to recognize the talent to strengthen the foundations of art and culture of our future generations. "Our folk songs and dances are an important part of our rich and varied culture and a sincere effort must be made to preserve them", the Dy CM maintained. Hailing the efforts of Meri Pehchan -a women club for organizing the musical extravaganza in association with Bhoorang Foundation, the Dy CM said such programmes touch the hearts and minds of people and will go a long way in reviving our rich culture and ethos. |
