Madan for befitting reply to Pakistan | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 4: Madan Lal Sharma former MP and senior Congress leader called upon the Central Government and BSF to give befitting reply to Pakistan for his cowardly act of cease fire violation and shelling in Akhnoor, Pargwal and Kanachak sector targeting 31 villages in Jammu district in which 2 BSF jawans were martyred and 16 persons including 15 civilians and a police constable were injured. While criticising the central policy of seize fire and dealing with boarder violations appealed to the Central government to provide suitable relief and rehabilitation to the affected population. He also advised the state government and district administration Jammu to provide all basic amenities to the affected population and keep some bullet proof vehicles in the shelling prone areas to rescue the patients at the times of need. He also demanded immediate cash assistance of Rs.20 lakh to the martyrs and Rs.5.0 lakh the injured persons by the state government. Criticizing the poor arrangements of water, sanitation and fans in lodgement centres, people preferred to stay in their homes rather than shifting to camps thus risking their lives. He informed that a number of cattle are killed or injured in Pakistan's shelling. Houses, cattle shed and other structures of the people also suffered extensive damages in all villages hit by the shelling and firing. He demanded that Divisional Commissioner Jammu should direct the revenue authorities to access these losses at the earliest so that suitable completion can be given to the affected people. Mr. Sharma said that state government is not keen to solve the issues of inhabitants of border and are kept at the mercy of Pakistan who bomb them as and when it feel like. |
