2 yrs on , vendors await licenses despite paying graft | | | Ashwani Sharma
Early Times Report
Udhampur, June 14: The work culture in Udhampur Municipality can be better judged from the case of vendors who have yet to get their renewed licenses even after the lapse two years despite paying the required fees along with graft. It is pertinent to mention here that the licenses given to the vendors make them eligible to sell their products within the municipal limits of the town. The vendors hang these licenses at their outlets while making sales. Some of these vendors informed that without a renewed license it is very difficult for them to sell their goods. Sources informed that these vendors have deposited the required amount of Rs. 2100 fee and illegal graft @ Rs. 300 for getting the renewed licenses. When contacted CEO Udhampur Municipality Santosh Kotwal informed that he has been transferred and so has no idea about the issue. It is pertinent to mention here that Udhampur Municipality always remained in news for all wrong reasons. "Sometimes Udhampur Municipality steals news headlines for heaps of garbage and chocked drains and insanitary conditions in the town and at other times it comes to limelight for corruption," Sushil Kumar a local of Udhampur town said. |
