Health services badly hit in DH Udhampur | 16 posts of doctors lying vacant | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 14: Health services in District Hospital Udhampur have been badly affected due to shortage of specialist doctors and Medical officers. As per the sources in DH, there were 49 post of specialist doctors including 22 Medical officers sanctioned by health department for smooth functioning of the hospital but ironically 16 post including 10 specialist doctors and six medical officers post are lying vacant since long. The source further said that against the four post of Consultant Gynaecologists, only two were available whereas one post each of Consultant Surgeon, Consultant Paediatrician, Consultant Anaesthesia were also lying vacant in District Hospital, Udhampur. Similarly, only one post of each Consultant Dermatology, Junior Grade Anaesthesia, Jr. Grade Radiologist and Blood Bank Officer were sanctioned in the hospital but were lying vacant while six post of Medical Officers were also not fulfilled, as a result the patients are being forced to either move to Govt Medical College Jammu or Private hospitals where consultation fee is very high. The callous approach of health department can be corroborated from this fact that more than 15 post of Paramedical staff are also lying vacant, including one post each of Head Dental Technician, , Jr. Dental Technician, Jr. X-ray Technician, Head Theatre Technician and two post of ECG Technicians , five post of Sr. Staff nurse and one post each of Jr. Staff nurse and Junior Pharmacist. However, during the budget session of this year, the concerned MLA had raised the question of shortage of manpower especially the specialist doctors in the District Hospital and the Minister of Health and Medical Education gave assurance to fulfil the vacancy but nothing has been done so far. |
