Early Times Report

Jammu, June 14: Dr.Manohar lal sharma, senior Congress leader and Ex. Minister today met Anganwari workers, who are sitting on strike outside tehsile office Billawar from last many days.Dr.Sharma said that he fully support the genuine demands of Anganwari workers/helpers and assured that the demands and the concerns will be raised by him at all level, political platforms, until the demands are met by the Government.
Dr. Sharma said that our Anganwari sisters are hard working and are the back bone of various Govt.schemes of social welfare department, health department etc. The current scenario of their salaries is very unjustified as they are being provided with Meager salaries that are very minimal to cope with the inflation, the country is facing under BJP Govt.
He said that nature of job of Anganwari sisters makes it mandatory to\ work minimum of 6 hours a day and hence they are working equally shoulder with shoulder as other department employees.
Dr.sharma said that the BJP Govt. on one hand is propagating its slogan of Beti Bachao Beti padhao, while on the other hand it is very painful that our daughters and sisters are bound to sit on agitation to achieve their genuine demands and have to sit under scorching sun in this summer temp. of 45 degrees
Supporting the demands of Anganwari workers Dr.Sharma said that there\ must be increase in salary of angadwadi worker and helper to 10000 and 5000 respectively. He further added that there must be a transparent mechanism of promotions in the department and current scenario of pick and choose must be stopped. He said that our Anganwari sisters shall be provided with all maternity leave benefits, annual leaves,medi-claim benefits under employee state insurance policy.
Dr.Sharma requested the social welfare minister and CM of the state, who\ also happen to be a women, to understand the pain of Anganwari sisters and to come out with a remedial action at the earliest.
Dr.Sharma cautioned the administrative departments not to create any problem for the peaceful agitation of Anganwari workers and promised the Anganwari sisters that he will not leave any stone unturned to bring these demands to acceptance.
