Dissolve State Assembly, hold fresh elections: Prof Bhim Singh
6/20/2018 9:38:39 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, June 20: Prof. Bhim Singh, Chief Patron of National Panthers Party, and former Legislator has urged J&K Governor, N.N. Vohra to exercise his exclusive power vested in him as a Governor of J&K under Section 53 (2)(b) of the Constitution of J&K.
He further said that J&K has a separate Constitution and the Constitution has vested exclusive power with the Governor of J&K under this Section 53(2)(b). Section 53 (2)(b) says that Governor has power to (a). prorogue the House or either house (b). dissolve the Legislative Assembly.
Prof. Bhim Singh said that J&K government was dismissed with a popular mandate of the legislators from all political parties or groups. The Chief Minister of J&K Mehbooba Mufti had offered her resignation voluntarily to the Governor as BJP had withdrawn support of its MLAs to the Chief Minister. The opposition parties including National Conference and the Congress have also declared that they will not join any camp and have demanded fresh election.
Prof. Bhim Singh said that the elections to the Parliament are being held in 2019 and it shall be a unique opportunity for the people of J&K to vote for the Assembly as well as for the Parliament to ensure that the commitment of the Prime Minister of India is carried by holding Lok Sabha and Assembly elections together.
Prof. Bhim Singh made a strong appeal to the angry leadership in the State of J&K including the Hurriyat Conference and the youth to support this move for the dissolution of the State Assembly and fresh election so that the new generation may also participate in the electoral process in 2019 so that the new generation may also get an opportunity to represent the suppressed and oppressed from all the corners of the state from Ladakh to Kashmir and to Jammu province. He also made strong appeal to the people of the Valley particularly the younger generation to welcome the pilgrims to the holy cave Amarnath to set an example of the unique secular and human traditions of Kashmir.
