Dropped BJP ministers have a 'last laugh' | | | Early Times Report Jammu, June 20: BJP central leadership deciding to pull out from the coalition government in Jammu and Kashmir left the newly inducted cabinet ministers high and dry. Just two months ago BJP had reshuffled all its ministers and had given a chance to new faces but before they could reap the fruits of power they were asked to quit the office. The ministers who were shunted out from the cabinet two months ago had the "last laugh." Sources told Early Times that BJP ministers couldn't even utter a word as the decision to say goodbye to Peoples Democratic Party was taken at the highest level. "They were aware that something is cooking but they did not expect that pull out would be so sudden," the source added. He said the BJP Ministers, who attended the meeting in New Delhi chaired by the party's National President Amit Shah, had even told their colleagues and subordinates that they need not to worry and they would finish their "unfinished business" soon after returning from New Delhi. "A few people within the state unit of BJP are of the opinion that options should be explored and Assembly should not be dissolved. But the hard stance taken by the National Conference and Omar Abdullah seeking early elections in the state seem to have left the BJP with no option," the source added. He said that only option which has got 25 seats in the assembly had pinned its hopes on the National Conference which seems in no mood to enter into any sort of alliance at this point of time with the BJP. It's in place to mention here that National Conference vice-president Omar Abdullah took to twitter and wrote: "The J&K state assembly should be dissolved immediately & fresh elections should take place as soon as appropriate. The former DCM has admitted that BJP can't be trusted not to horsetrade for Govt formation." The former chief minister was reacting to BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister (DyCM) Kavinder Gupta's reported statement that his party was "working on something". "I don't think a new government will be formed anytime soon. Uncertainties are there, but we are working on something and people will get to know about it," Gupta had reportedly said. An insider revealed that National Conference top leadership is apprehensive that BJP can split both the Kashmir centric parties NC and PDP and lure the legislators by offering them cabinet berths and other incentives. However, a BJP leader claimed that party wants law and order situation to improve in the Valley first then only future course of action would be decided. |
