6/20/2018 11:15:25 PM
Early Times Report

Rajouri, June 20: Despite explicit orders, senior health officers including Chief Medical officer (CMO) Rajouri have not cancelled the attachments of the health employees including doctors in the district for the reasons best known to them.
Shortage of doctors, paramedical staff has already badly hampered the functioning of the health institutions in the district and according to health department sources about six sub health centres in the district are closed due to non-availability of the staff.
Taking serious note of attachments DDC has directed Dr Suresh Gupta, Chief medical Officer (CMO) to furnish the details of such attachments within one day for further action in this matter.
He also directed the CMO to provide staff at the closed health centres to make these centre functional within one week as these centres are situated in far off area.
People of Panhad have been demanding creation of health centres as they have to move to district hospital in case of any medical emergency. CMO was also asked to finalise the land for the construction of New Type of PHC (NT PHC) at Panhad.
Construction for the many health centres was initiated in the district years ago but still the buildings are incomplete due to lackadaisical attitude of the concerned agencies and the people are suffering.
Deputy Commissioner today chaired a meeting of the senior district health officers including Block Medical Officers (BMOs), Superintendent, district hospital, Deputy CMO etc.
At many places the construction work of the health centres was taken up without the construction of boundary walls and the land is formally handed over by the department thus resulting in disputes with the local people.
The district health department is also facing shortage of ambulances. "Out of 72 ambulances available in the district 16 are off the road due to various reasons
The DDC also reviewed the availability of various diagnostic facilities in the district and peripheral hospitals, medical supply position and availability of essential drugs.
It was decided that all medical supplies shall be procured by the District Level Purchase Committee in order to ensure uniformity in procurement process.
