Writers Forum Baramulla holds condolence meet on veteran journalist Shujaat Bukhari

BARAMULLA, June 20: The Writers Forum Baramulla Wednesday held a condolence meeting in collaboration with the Edge youth group at the district library Baramulla in memory of the veteran journalist and writer, Shujaat Bukhari who was assassinated on Thursday evening by unidentified gunmen in the press enclave Srinagar.
A galaxy of writers and poets of district Baramulla threw light on the contribution made by late Dr Shujhat Bukhari in the field of Journalism and literature.
The meeting was presided by noted scholar, writer and poet, Maqbool Ferrozi. The other members were also present in the meeting are, Manzoor Bukhari, Abdul Rashid Bhat, Mohammad Yaseen Gilani, Prof Gh Hassan Beigh Aftab, Mushtaq Kirmani, Anzhar Muhjoo, Syed Tahir-ul Haq, Nazir Talib, Peer Siraj-ud Din, Insha Maqbool, Uzma, Tahir Bhat, Karan Singh Talib, Surrendar Sodhi and others.
During the condolence meeting the distinguished members offered special prayers (Fatheha) for the departed soul and recalled Bukhari's contribution in the field of journalism, writers, colleague, friend and a good human being.
The members said that the whole Kashmir is yet to come out of the shock of Shujaat's killing, adding that his death has created a void which cannot be filled easily.
"I had known Shujaat since he joined Journalism. More than a colleague Shujhaat was like a younger brother to me," said Maqbool Feroozi.
He was prolific writers, speaker and a good friend of everybody, unfortunately today he is not among us, but we must take his mission forward with sincerity and dedication.
Prof Biegh said that, Shujhat had been my student at GDC Sopore, he was very shy but he excelled himself later in the field of journalism.
