Officials suspect backdated orders in JK Govt, Seek Raj Bhawan's intervention | | | Early Times Report Jammu, June 22: Even as soon after the state of Jammu and Kashmir came under Governor's rule and NN Vohra asked the administration to revoke all orders by the Peoples Democratic Party -Bharatiya Janta Party government on June 19, when the alliance broke, there are reports of "mischief of issuance of backdated orders." Sources said some of the senior PDP leaders, mainly ministers and others enjoying power, in league with some "yes minister officials" have got orders issued in backdate of June 18. Sources said some of the officials in the civil secretariat and some of the DCs allegedly went by the dictations of their outgoing bosses and "issued some orders including those of promotions, transfers, allotment of contracts and release of payments in backdate." A senior official on the condition of anonymity said it would be difficult for the administration of Governor to keep track of all such "mischievous orders." "What is most suitable for such a situation is that in the interest of administration all the orders issued after June 14 when Secretariat closed three days ahead of the Eid and weekend holidays are revoked," said a senior official on the condition of anonymity. Sources said even the opposition parties, mainly National Conference and the Congress have received complaints from their "contacts in the government" that "large-scale mischief has taken place in the garb of backdate." "There are complaints of even of millions having been fraudulently transferred from the CDF of the MLAs. All this if probed may take years to reach the logical conclusion so it's better that the orders be revoked from June 18, which was Monday," the officials insisted. A senior official said he was planning to bring the complaints into the notice of the new dispensation. Sources said a civil society group is planning to file a formal complaint in this regard at the Raj Bhawan. "The point is that most of the officials at the helm were working as Yes Ministers so you cannot rule out anything," said a prominent social activist. Meanwhile the concerned have appealed Governor NN Vohra to look into the matter. |
