Patients suffer as docs go on strike | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, July 4: Patients visiting the outpatient departments (OPDs) and admitted in the inward patient departments (IPDs) of the Government Medical College and Hospital Jammu and its associated hospitals had a tough time as the doctors went on strike and they were on strike when the last report came in. Barring emergency services, entire patients care came to a standstill, making thousands of patients seek the help of paramedical staff like pharmacists and nurses. The doctors went on strike on Wednesday's morning in support of resident doctors of GMC Srinagar and against the termination of doctors. Senior doctors admitted that the problems faced by the patients during the strike and the doctors had worked for extra hours to attend all patients in the OPDs. "We have been forced to take this step and so far as patients are concerned, our specialists, general physicians, and surgeons attended their OPDs," a junior doctor told. |
