Early Times Report
BUDGAM, July 4: Most of the health centres in Khag, Beerwah and Khansahib tehsil of this central Kashmir district are either defunct or face dearth of staff due to which the masses suffers badly. Sources said that scores of specialist doctors and technical staff posted in far flung areas have been attached to health institutions of Srinagar and other parts of the Valley. The Public Health Centres (PHCs) at many places are lacking basic facilities; some have only few beds, where as other have shortage of staff and equipment, sources told Early Times. According to them, various PHCs are without staff. Take example of PHC Khag, PHC Peithkhoor, PHC Kralneaw, PHC Nasrullahpora, PHC Vitarpora, Allopathic Dispensary (AD) including of Chewdhara, Sogam, Ratsuna, MA Centre Rakh Shaliena, and sub centers Nandirgund, SC Chergam, SC Galwanpora, SC Khandpora and others, sources informed. They further added that there are many health centers in peripheries where patient load is not much but still staff remains absent. Irony is that medical supply is hardly seen available and poor patients have to purchase costly drugs from medical stores. In this central Kashmir district there is a dearth of doctors, and in most of the far flung areas only one doctor remains available, said local residents of Khag. The residents of Kralnew village said that hospital supply is not being provided them as per the requirement and even sometimes they have to buy paracetamol tablet from market. Apart from Kralnew there are other adjoining areas where there is acute shortage of doctors and paramedical staff due to which patients and pregnant women of the area who need emergency care are denied medical facilities on time, said locals. They appealed the Governor to intervene into the matter, so that people of rural areas will not suffer anymore for want of medical facilities. |
