Fake currency racket busted, one held with Rs 51,500 | | | Early Times Report Jammu, July 4: Police today claimed to have busted a fake currency racket, arrested one person and recovered Rs 51,500 Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) from his possession while a drug peddler was also arrested with 175 bottles of banned drug. Police spokesman said that a routine naka which was established at Kunjwani Chowk and a pedestrian was coming from Narwal towards Bari Brahmana was asked to stop but he tried to flee from the spot but was overpowered by the alert cops. "On questioning he disclosed his name as Romesh Kumar alias Doctor of village Chak Bala in RS Pura", said spokesman adding that during his search fake Indian currencynotes worth Rs 51500 was recovered from his possession. In this regard a case under FIR No 55/2018 under section 489-A/489-C of RPC has been registered at police station Gangyal. Spokesman further said that more recoveries are expected as there is every possibility of involvement of more persons. Meanwhile, two cases under FIR No 32/17 under sections 489-A and 489-C of RPC and case under FIR No 238/17 under section 489 and 489-C of RPC was already registered against him at police station Miran Sahib and police station Bishnah respectively. Meanwhile, a notorious drug peddler was arrested by Gangyal police with 175 bottles of banned syrup. Police spokesman said that today a routine naka was established at Greater Kailash Chock new Fawara Chowk, when one motorcycle (Pulsar) without registration number coming from lane No 22 Fawara Chowk towards Forest Chowk was signalled to stop but the driver of the bike tried to break the naka in order to flee from the spot. However, the bike was stopped after chased by the alert cops and on questioning he disclosed his name as Rakesh Kumar of Phallanwala, Tehsil Akhnoor Distt Jammu. "During search total 175 bottles of banned syrup (onerex) were recovered from his possession", said spokesman adding that on further questioning he disclosed that he had brought the consignment from Punjab and selling drugs among the youth and ruining the society in and around Jammu city. In this regard a case under FIR No 56/2018 under section 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at police station Gangyal. Spokesman said that more recoveries are expected as there is every possibility of involvement of more persons while a case under FIR No 47/16 under section 8/21/22 NDPS Act had been registered against him at Gandhi Nagar police station. |
