'Influential' teacher forcing poor family to withdraw complaint of corporal punishment in Sunderbani | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, Aug 9: An "influential" teacher is pressurizing a poor family whose ward was beaten ruthlessly at a school in Lower Hathal zone of Sunderbani tehsil here to withdraw their complaint against him. Last month, Gulshan Kumar a teacher posted at Government Middle School Barnara was accused of ruthlessly beating a class 5th student Anjali Sharma. Anjali had suffered multiple injuries even as her body bore visible marks of abuse. While the parents had subsequently filed a complaint in the Education department against the teacher, no action was taken. The poor family said on the contrary the teacher who enjoys "patronage of some politicians started to threaten them through police and other forces." "We are poor people. Instead of government taking action against the erring teacher, we are being forced to withdraw the case or face consequences," the family told Early Times. Official sources in Education department confirmed that no action was taken against the "erring teacher due to political pressures." The family cried helplessness. "We face a threat to our life for having spoken truth about abuse of a girl child when Modi JI says Beti Padhao, Beti Bachao." They appealed Governor NN Vohra to come to their rescue. |
