Hyprocisy, duplicity of PDP leadership: Fearing backlash of Rassana case party's top leader 'supports' rape accused | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 9: Fearing that infamous Rassana case is going to be proved counter-productive for the party in Jammu region, the desperate leadership of PDP has come out openly in the support of Talib Hussain, a rape accused arrested by the Samba Police. A top party leader, Choudhary Abdul Hamid, who is virtually handling party affairs in Jammu region these days due to patronage of top leadership, had gone to Samba Police Station to inquire about health of rape accused and directed the police to provide all possible facilities to Talib Hussian, against whom as many as 5 FIRs have been registered including one of rape. Credible sources said that from the day one when Talib Hussain was arrested after one of his relative has labeled charge of rape on the so-called tribal activists, PDP leadership is in the shock because party had earlier planned to utilize services of Talib in different parts of Jammu region to exploit sentiments of innocent Gujjar and Bakerwal community which by and large is supporter of either Congress or NC in Jammu region. Interestingly in Rassana case when two BJP ministers had supported the demand of handing of that case to CBI, PDP leadership had dubbed them as pro-rapist but party's top leader along with his supporters had gone to police station where rape accused is arrested apparently to mount pressure on the police. A national news paper has reported that 'in a brazen display of hypocrisy, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which vowed to take the Kathua rape-murder case involving a minor girl from the Bakerwal community to its logical conclusion, has come in "support" of a rape accused'. After facing criticism in the social media, Choudhary Abdul Hamid said he went to the police station as chairman of Gujjar Charitable Trust to enquire about the health and well-being of Talib following rumours of assault on him in police custody. "I was not there to pressure anyone. There was nothing wrong in it because I went there on the insistence of community members. I also met the complainant and her family there," he said. |
