Poonch, Aug 9: The health sector in this border district is said on decline as primary health centres, sub district hospitals and other medical units have failed to provide required facilities to the gullible public, sources said here today. They said most of the primary Health Centres (PHCs) in the district remain closed while laid norms are 24X7 open for them. There is no staff, medicines or any other facility on these health centres on which Govt has been claiming up graded infrastructure and so on poor people from far off places come for treatment are asked to get medicines and diagnostic tests done from the market said a patient Riyaz Ahmed while talking to Early Times Similarly the scene of Sub district hospitals is no different. Patient who get admitted there have to purchase all the medicines, equipments and even injection syringes from the chemists in the market who were also included in mal practices allegedly selling substandard medicines under the nose of Chief Medical Officer Dr Mumtaz Bhatti They added people of the district in general and Mendhar, Surankote Mandi and Poonch blocks have urged the Drugs organization to constitute team and pay frequent visits to fund and what is exactly going on in this border district and how gullible public is being looted on the name of medical facilities in private clinics they added Meanwhile social activist Mushtaq Ahmed has urged the district administration to take immediate steps to curb the menace of selling sub stand and medicines in open market which further deteriorates the health of health sector he added |
