Top leaders of terrorists in Kashmir as Army targets | Anti-insurgency operations | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec 3: Top leaders of terrorists in Kashmir are on the radar of the Indian security forces. This is what reports emanating from New Delhi suggest. Reports suggest that those involved in the anti-insurgency operation in J&K have planned a "major operation" and their objective is to "bring down the remaining top leadership of terrorists operating in the state". As per sources, "a hunt is on for three terrorists who formed the core 12-member leadership". They are locals from Kashmir. They have been categorized by the security forces as "A++" terrorists. In other words, they have been categorized as the most dangerous. It has already been reported that the security forces have already liquidated nine terrorists of the "A++" category. Naved Jatt, who allegedly killed journalist Shujaat Bukhari, also belonged to this category. Reports from the Valley suggest that the security forces "are searching for Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Zeenat-ul-Islam, the group's chief operational commander in Kashmir; Riyaz Ahmad Naikoo; and Zakir Musa of the group, called the Ansar Ghazwat ul-Hind". The powers-that-be in Delhi are upbeat. The reason is that the number of terrorists killed so far during 2018 is 233. 39 were liquidated in November alone. It indicates that locals have been giving inputs to the security forces and helping them neutralize terrorists. October, September and August had witnessed 28, 29 and 28 terrorist getting killed, respectively. Only recently, Army Chief General Bipin Rawat had said: "Terrorists have to be brought to a level where they are not able to revamp and come together". And there are reports to the effect that "clear instructions have been issued to prevent any regrouping". Shopian, Anantnag, Budgam, Kulgam and Srinagar are the five main locations, where most of the terrorists are concentrated, and the security forces are after them. In the mean times, the security forces have come to know that "honey trapping" is one of the latest methods that is being used by Pakistan-based terror groups to attract youths towards terrorism and use them as human carriers for delivering arms from one place to another or acting as guides to infiltrating terrorists. The police have arrested one Syed Sazia (30) from Bandipora, Kashmir. During interrogation, Shazia admitted the "presence of some more women in militant ranks who had been tasked with luring youths into militancy". On November 17, the police had also arrested Aysia Jan (28). The charge against her was that she was carrying 20 grenades in Lawaypora on the city outskirts. The police arrested her after receiving inputs about militants trying to smuggle arms and ammunition into the city. |
