Discrimination with pro-Jammu Early Times condemnable: Harsh Dev | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 3: Condemning the pick and choose policy of the State Information Department in the distribution of government advertisements to newspapers in particular pro-Jammu Early Times, the chairman Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) and former minister Harsh Dev Singh advocated a justifiable basis in allocation of ads. Expressing his views on State Information Department's procedure of favouring few selective newspapers in allocating major chunk of advertisements while denying their legitimate share to papers like Early Times, Harsh Dev Singh said that there is complete lack of transparent policy in the entire gamut of distributing government advertisements. Singh while praising Early Times said that it is a pro-Jammu paper and it is being discriminated without any valid reason or rhyme adding that no proper policy is being followed in the process due to which the papers like Early Times are subjected to discrimination which is highly deplorable. "Governor should intervene into this and ensure that the distribution of advertisements by the Information Department should be on justified basis. A rational approach should be adopted in the allocation of government advertisements to the newspapers to stem the rot of biasness," said Harsh Dev. "The distribution of government advertisements is not like something personal that anybody is granted whatever the measure without following any due procedure…Some criteria has got to be evolved," he added. Harsh Dev Singh further said that the pick and choose policy is totally wrong which needs to be corrected at the earliest so as to stop the unjustified discrimination in the distribution of government advertisements. |
