Decades on, Govt fails to streamline ISM | 60% dispensaries run from single rented rooms | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 03: The state government has failed to streamline ISM department as 60 percent AYUSH dispensaries situated in winter capital sans proper accommodation and run in single rented rooms. Inside sources infor-med Early Times that successive government's had promised upgradation of ISM department but nothing has been done. In Jammu district out of 50, 30 AYUSH dispensaries are running in violation of Indian Public Health Standards (IPHS) guidelines. Since establishment there is no proper infrastructure for these health centers. As per IPHS norms a AYUSH dispensaries should have four to five rooms with facilities of waiting room, one room for two- four beds, and a store and one for clinic/ office. Every room including the waiting room must have toilet facilities. But surprisingly in Jammu district most of the health centers have no facilities of potable water and electricity. "Residential accommodation for faculty is a distant dream but state government has failed to establish essential building infrastructure to patient in such health centers", sources alleged. ISM Director General was not available for comments despite repeated calls. |
