SRINAGAR, Feb 3: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said that surgical strikes carried out by the Indian army has given enough indications to the world that present Government of India can go to any extent in rooting out terrorism and protecting its own territory from various challenges.
The Prime Minister made these remarks during a function held here at Sher-I-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC). The function was held in connection with laying of foundation stones as well as inauguration of various development projects in the Kashmir valley. Modi vowed that terrorism would be rooted out from Jammu & Kashmir and that it would be ensured that peace is established in the state especially Kashmir valley. He said that permanent peace is necessary so that Jammu & Kashmir regains its lost glory and the tourism sector gets the necessary fillip. "There is a lot of resentment among the people against the killing of masses who are working for establishing peace in Jammu & Kashmir. I want to make it clear that there is no going back in our war on terrorism. Terrorism would be rooted out from the state so that there is permanent peace," said Prime Minister.
Modi said that his government has resolved to break the back of terrorism in Jammu & Kashmir adding that terrorism as well as terror would be dealt sternly with iron hands. He said that National Democratic Alliance (NDA) stands by the dream of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. "We stand by the dream and commitment of Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Carrying forward his dream we believe in Sab Ka Saath Sab Ka Vikaas. We want equitable development of all the three regions Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh. We want Kashmir to be peaceful and prosperous so that more and more people visit Kashmir," said Prime Minister. Modi said that whole nation is anguished over the killing of the youth who wanted establishment of peace and tranquility in the state. He said that each and every terrorist would be dealt with iron hands and there would not be any compromise in this regard. He said people of the state have paid a heavy price on account of terror related activities.
"People are getting killed in the name of violence in Kashmir and at the same time whole nation is anguished over the innocent killing of people who want peace to return to Jammu & Kashmir. It is our endeavour and commitment to root out terrorism and it would be ensured that tough action is taken against all the terrorists and there would not be any compromise in this regard," said Modi.
The Prime Minister said that martyrs like Nazir Ahmad Wani and Mohammad Aurangzeb are the real heroes as they laid down their lives in the name of peace in Jammu & Kashmir adding that there is no scope for violence in the contemporary society. He said that there are many others who died while pitching for peace and that people in general should remember the sacrifices of all these brave men.
Modi said that the surgical strikes carried out by the army have amplified his government's resolve of moving an extra mile when it comes to protecting the interests of the country. He said the outside world has come to know that present government at the centre has adopted a new way of protecting the country's interests.
The Prime Minister said that his government stands for the dignified return of Kashmiri Pandits to the valley. He said that under the Prime Minister's Development Programme 3,000 posts have been created for the displaced Kashmiri Pandits adding that these posts would be filled up very soon.
"The Kashmiri Pandits became victims of violence in Kashmir valley and they had to leave their homeland and settle down elsewhere. However, we stand by our commitment of rehabilitating these people in their own land. For this purpose we are setting up accommodation for the Kashmiri Pandit employees appointed under the package and many more steps would be taken in the future as well," said Modi. The Prime Minister complimented the people for their participation in the last year's Panchayat as well as local body polls. He said that despite threats people in huge number came out to vote thus defeating nefarious designs of the people inimical to peace and democracy. He said the projects being dedicated would benefit the people of state as a whole.
Modi said that India stands at third number with regards to setting up of start-up businesses in the world after China and United States of America. He said that three lakh CSCs have been set up across the length and breadth of the country. He said the rural BPO inaugurated at Bandipora would give jobs to youth in a rural area like Bandipora. He made mention of nine years old kick boxing Champion Tajamul Islam and said that this girl has come up as a role model as well.
The Prime Minister complimented the state administration saying that Jammu & Kashmir has achieved the status of Open Defecation Free (ODF) in October last year. He also conveyed his happiness over the 100 percent electrification under the SAUBHAGYA scheme. He exuded confidence that Jammu & Kashmir would become the first state of country to provide potable tap water to the whole population.
Modi said that the health sector in the state would see a great transformation once the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) come up at Awantipora-Pulwama in Kashmir and Vijaypur-Samba in Jammu. He said that his government is committed to provide free health insurance to the poor masses under the Ayushman Bharat scheme.
