IGP constitutes SIT to investigate violence in Jammu post Pulwama terror strike | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 24: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu-MK Sinha today constituted a special team for investigating and identifying those behind violence and arson that erupted in areas of the City North including Gujjar Nagar, Prem Nagar, Residency Road and Janipur post Pulwama terror strike. Officials said that scores of people found involved in incidents of arson and violence have been booked so far and the team will investigate and identify role of other instigators. "Dozens of FIRs have been registered in different police stations of Jammu District while several persons have been booked", said a police officer pleading anonymity. He further added that around one dozen people were injured while many vehicle were also torched in the different areas of Jammu. "The special team will investigate every aspect and submit adetailed report to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu", said a police officer. "Action will be taken against anyone found involved in any incident of arson and damaging of property of people", he further said. Following the Pulwama militant attack in which more than 40 personnel of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) attained martyrdom, the Jammu district witnessed a series of incidents of violence in which at least 50 vehicles in Gujjar Nagar, Residency Road and Janipur were damaged or set ablaze. To contain the situation, the administration of Jammu imposed curfew across the district on February 15. |
