Kathua Distt administration's strange ways continue

Early Times Report
KATHUA, Mar 27: It seems that the Kathua district administration has not learnt any lessons even after the transfer of District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kathua after he got involved in a controversy over the filing of nomination of Congress candidate from Udhampur-Doda-Kathua Lok Sabha Constituency.
Despite the controversy over the process of receiving the nomination letter, the attitude of administrative officers has not changed a bit as today they stopped the scheduled weekly programme "Prayas" mid-way following the arrival of BJP candidate from Udhampur-Doda-Kathua Lok Sabha segment and Minister of State in Prime Minister's Office, Dr Jitendra Singh in the conference hall of the DC Office Complex.
"Prayas" is a programme being run since the last five years initiated to listen to the problems of the general public.
The scheduled programme "Prayas", wherein the people register their grievances telephonically, began this morning as usual but it was called off in a huff after taking just six calls as the BJP stalwart Dr Singh and its nominee from Udhampur Lok Sabha seat stormed into the Conference Hall.
ADC Ghanishyam Singh and ADDC Dr Shubhra were conducting the proceedings of the programme when it was abruptly called off due to which the number of callers who were able to contact remained six while on any other day the figure easily touches dozen or even more.
Reacting to the incident, the opposition Congress took potshots at the civil administration and raised question mark over its functioning.
"It is nothing but the mockery of the system as the people wait for this day every week as they have an opportunity to raise their grievances in front of a battery of district level officers who come all the way to the DC Office Complex to listen to the problems of general public and try to address them on spot but the district administration snatched that chance from the commoners to amuse their political bosses," said Congress leader Pankaj Dogra.
